Take Action Virginia – a progressive labor/community electoral collaboration of SEIU 32BJ, SEIU Virginia 512, CASA in Action, LiUNA! Mid-Atlantic, NAKASEC Action Fund, UNITE HERE Local 25, and UFCW Local 400 – announced endorsements today in four key races that promise to bring new talent and commitment to Virginia’s working families.

In Senate District 7, Take Action Virginia endorses Gary McCollum, a successful businessman and former Army Ranger committed to returning integrity to a district marred by an incumbent with a history of voting for special interests over regular families. In Senate District 10, Take Action Virginia announces its support for Dan Gecker, who will dedicate his career in the Senate to ensuring that all Virginia’s children have a fighting chance through investment in education.  In Senate District 13, Take Action Virginia endorses Dr. Jill McCabe, a dedicated public servant and healthcare champion who will restore civility to a district particularly undermined by unacceptable attacks on women and families.  And in Senate District 29, Take Action Virginia endorses Jeremy McPike, volunteer firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician with a lifetime dedication to strengthening Prince William County for all its residents.

“It is time for change in the halls of the General Assembly,” said David Broder, President of SEIU Virginia 512.  “Take Action Virginia is proud to endorse four enormously talented people who will bring new energy to raising the minimum wage, fighting for Medicaid expansion, and more.”

With voter outreach in full swing, member organizations of Take Action Virginia will be assisting endorsed candidates with a combination of financial resources and boots on the ground to get them over the line on Election Day.

“Working people in Virginia face real challenges, from paying the rent to fighting for rights on the job,” said Dennis Martire, Vice President and Regional Manager for LiUNA! Mid-Atlantic. “Our organizations are excited to work hard to elect the people who will fight for Virginia’s families.”

The six member organizations of Take Action Virginia – SEIU 32BJ, SEIU Virginia 512, CASA in Action, LiUNA!
